I thought I would be able to scan legal sized paper–wrong!

It has to be left on because it is very slow to do anything very quickly if turned off.The black print is very sharp. A good price of the features.

  2. I bought mine at Sams Club just in case I had to return it and I had to the very same day. I got it home, the outside looked like it had never been opened but it had been. The ink heads were missing and the black ink had been opened and resealed with scotch tape. I think HP has lots of returns and are recycling the things. So… back to the search for a good printer.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer

I have used HP Pro printers for the last 8 years in my home office and in Jan 2010 I updated to the HP OJ Pro 8500 all in one printer. These are my thoughts: During setup for the fax that i use with my pc would not finish because of a bad phone cord. Finally after changing to several different phone cords and reloading the fax finally passed the test. All functions of the printer are great in relations to scanning and faxing but I do have problems with the paper tray and printing. Either direct from pc or as a stand along it will not make multiple copies. The problem is pulling paper from the tray and the printer telling me I am out of paper. My corrections of adjusting the paper or removing and adding more has not corrected. If you make multiple copies you will have to baby set the feeder.

This machine is a bust! It is not easy to set up. Directions hard to understand if you are setting up a newer computer with speakers, wireless, DSL, etc. BUT, the absolute worst feature is the INK replacement. (It Sucks up the ink!) Even if you buy the “Big” XL ink cartridges, it is unbelieveable, the amount of ink it uses, even if you put the ink on black only!!! It still seems to suck up the color ink… The machine is also very loud. It cleans it’s heads all the time… Why, don’t know.. To replace all the inks, which is OFTEN, it costs over $100. I don’t print that much and I have to reorder or go to Staples for replacements every 2-3 weeks. This is unacceptable!!!!! This is a rip.. Also, to set up the phone lines on this thing takes a computer, phone technician.. I am VERY disappointed. Get it together HP. This machine Sucks! I should get a refund!! I’m going to go to Staples, where I bought this piece of junk, and send it back if I can…
