It’s a good game. It’s extremely easy. Some things don’t work like the parachute. When you use the parachute 2 things can happen: 1)Blob will eat the bean and crumple 2)he won’t eat the bean. I stopped playing when that happened on the 3rd or 4th level. Okay for a rental, but not a keeper. UPDATE: My son is enjoying it and wants to keep it — but he doesn’t play with it as much as many of his other games, especially Football (Madden 2007 is his favorite) and Little King’s Story

I may be the only person who had to read the info about the Controls in the BAHB handbook, but there is a typo — Z is jellybeans and C is call the blob. We just got out Wii and, based on the zillions of glowing reviews, here and elsewhere, I got this game for my 7-year-old son. He likes it but it is frustrating that he can’t get past the 2nd challenge or level or puzzle, since we haven’t been able to figure out the control.s Upon some digging I think I’ve discovered the typo noted above, but NO ONE mentioned it. It’s NOT instinctive like the other Wii games we’ve played. The use of nunchuk and controller together is awkward.
if you’ve got lots of Wii/gaming experience and a classic controller, it’s probably a fine game, and I look forward to warming up to it. But right now it’s really frustrating.

A Boy and His Blob may look like a game meant for kids, but don’t be fooled by the cartoon artwork. This title is a polished puzzle-platformer that’s great for casual and hardcore gamers alike. There are plenty of levels that offer a wide variety of challenges. Many have stumped me for a while, and some are challenging even when you know what to do.
The gameplay is unique and charming. You go through each stage feeding the Blob jelly beans that transform it into various items (ladder, trampoline, parachute, anvil, etc.) that help you traverse the current level. There are enemies, pitfalls, and spikes that can end your adventure prematurely so it’s best to keep a watch out and prepare to solve some inventive puzzles (fortunately, there are plenty of checkpoints so you don’t have to redo much if you do die). Some are easy while some are very challenging. Regardless of the challenge, the charm of this game will keep you coming back for more.
Not only are the graphics absolutely beautiful, but the animations/sounds/voices are perfect. You can even give the Blob a hug just for the fun of it. Every time I play it the charming nature of the entire package just amazes me.
The only real gripe I have about this game is that loading times between levels can be longer than expected. They’re probably about 10 seconds (fortunately they don’t happen extremely often) which I think is too much for this kind of game. The load times should be virtually non-existant, in my opinion. However, this is a small issue that fails to taint a marvelous masterpiece that all Wii owners should definitely experience.
One issue that might be important to others is that there is only one save file, so multiple people can’t have their own save slot. However, you can replay any level as many times as you want so it’s not like others can’t experience the same levels in order from start to finish (although they won’t be able to find the hidden chests that unlock concept art and videos if you have already found them).
Overall, this game is simply to wonderful to miss. My wife thought this game looked like a joke, but now she imitates the Boy and loves how cute it is. Anybody can enjoy this game so I really advise you to give it a shot.

I purchased this game as the first “use the buttons” game for our 4 & 5 year old boys. They love to play the WII’s more active games (fit, toy story, etc.) so I thought this game would be a great transition into the more complicated games. Well, I forgot how sensitive my sheltered little ones are. They were terrified of the “black blobs” and actually started crying when the little boy died! Our oldest watched it from a distance through his finger covered eyes as his father showed our youngest how it worked.
I thought for sure my little ones were ready for this and based on the other reviews I felt it was a good choice for them. I do recommend the game, it is fun and challenging for younger players. The graphics are quite nice and the little boy is adorable. But, if you have sensitive kids that you shelter from violence, the VERY mild “violence” in this game might be too much for them.

I gotta be honest, played about 1.5hr of the game so far. Initially I was totally flabbergasted by how it explained EVERYTHING out to you. It only gives you the beans you will use in a particular level, tells you what they do, you have an unlimited amount, & signs tell you what to use! I was like WTF, why am I even playing this, its like following directions to some place with a GPS, I guess you get the gratification of getting to the end of the game, but damn I don’t find it fun to follow instructions, I would take a class if I wanted to do that!
Anyway as I progressed further in the game I was surprised in one particular area I literally got stuck for 20min as I wanted to punch the TV, but this is exactly the opposite of the above, it did NOT tell you what to do & I got in some funky place. I got to the second world in the game and I got VERY excited, it had the original music and same look of the first NES game for 30sec, but it broke the mold pretty quick.
Anyway I think for the price I got it from amazon ($20) you can’t not buy it if the old NES game was very nostalgic for you, I recommend buying it. Don’t get too excited or anything, but maybe thats my old feelings getting in the way.
Regardless this is a pretty-looking game that is WONDERFULLY non-violent really & younger kids would probably enjoy it. I believe they may beat it very quickly though. Also bear in mind I have yet to use the actual wii controls (its all buttons on the wiimote+nunchuck, no actual movement of either does anything for the game which is a little depressing)
